In order to promote the improvement image of Indonesia in Myanmar, Diaspora Indonesia and Dharma Wanita Unity collaboration with Indonesian Embassy in Yangon and supported by Ministry of Indonesian Tourism, in 21-22 March 2015 has organized the "Batik Transformation 2015" event. Held at Junction Square Mall Yangon, the event was attended by the Ambassador Republic of Indonesia in Myanmar, HE Dr. Ito Sumardi and Minister of Culture Republic of Myanmar, HE U Aye Myint Kyu as Guest of Honour, Chief Minister of Yangon, HE U Myint Swe, and some invited Guest Ambassadors of Friendly Countries.
In the opening speech, Mr Ito as the Ambassador said that the purpose of this event is to introduce Indonesian products in the market of Myanmar, promote Batik as cultural heritage and national identity that has been recognized by UNESCO to people of myanmar as well, so it become opportunity to Indonesian Garment Companies to know more closely potential market in Myanmar, so the future expectation is Indonesia and Myanmar can increase the economic cooperation in trade and investment, especially in garment sector.
In this event, Indonesian Garment Companies participating including PT Pismatex (Gajah Duduk), Bhayangkari West Java, Savarine & Co, PT Sarinah Jaya, and several booths from indonesian companies. In addition, there are also booths of the Ministry of Indonesian Tourism, Garuda Indonesia, PT Japfa, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telin). Booth PT Pismatex (Gajah Duduk) looks frequently visited by many visitors, because the Myanmar people, especially the male has a tradition of using gloves.
There are 4 products exhibited by Gajah Duduk, Marrakech Casual, Marrakech Exclusive, Gajah Duduk Glove and Shiro by GD. Gajah Duduk represented by Mr. Anwar Sungkar as Sales Manager of PT Pismatex, Mr. Widi, Mr. Taufik, Mr. Adi, Mrs. Joshepin and Mrs. Maya. The Conclusion from this exhibition, Gajah Duduk have a great opportunity to dominate the market in Myanmar.
